Case 7: |
|
A 44 years old male patient Mr. H. P. (Patient Ref. No.
S5325) reported to the clinic with complaints of psoriasis
since 15 years. He had extensive lesions all over his
body. He had a history of short remissions twice in the
past but since last 4 years his lesions had remained the
same. He had erythematous, scaly lesions all over his body
with much itching. His complaints would be worse in summer
as well as winter. The itching would be worse at night. He
said that he as well as his family were tired of this
illness and he would feel suicidal due to psoriasis. He
was weeping when describing his frustration due to this
disease. He had received Homoeopathic treatment in the
past but for a short while and with no significant relief.
He was a short and lean person with an average appetite.
He craved for sweets, spicy and fried food. He was a
chilly person and could not tolerate cold easily. He was
an alcoholic since many years and would take alcohol twice
daily.
He was a carpenter by profession and stayed with his wife,
his mother and two sons. The major stress in his life was
that he was jobless and had a loan that he had to pay
back. He said that he felt frustrated like a beggar who
had nothing at all. He was very despondent and had
suicidal thoughts from despair about his illness. He had
also become very irritable due to this illness.
Based on this history he was prescribed Psorinum 200 for
his complaints. Within 6 months of treatment he was almost
70% cured of his illness. He met with an accident at about
this time and was put on antibiotics during the treatment.
His psoriasis took an uphill course during this period and
for another few weeks. But with continued treatment this
exacerbation was brought under control. At the end of next
5 months he was completely free from this disease and
there were only few marks left behind (no active lesions).
These marks also disappeared after treatment for another
month.
This case shows us how even chronic and stubborn diseases
like psoriasis can be effectively handled with Homoeopathy
and can be restored to health completely.

Case 8: |
|
A 33 years old male patient Mr. R. S. (Patient Ref. No. L4798), reported with
complaints of psoriasis since 3 years. He had eruptions on his knees, elbows,
back and on his scalp. The lesions had persisted for all these years without any
remission. There was marked scaling of the lesions. Itching was present though
it was not very intense. The symptoms would be worse during winter.
He also had complaints of pain in the joints since 3 years. He would get pain in
the small joints of the hands and fingers, wrists and knees. The pain would be
worse when he would rest the affected joints and would be better on moving these
joints. He would get some relief from warmth. The pain in the knees would be
worse when he would be sitting. His RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) test was positive.
He was fond of fish and spicy foods and had aversion to vegetables. He had a
short and stout constitution. He was a mild and gentle person with a quiet
nature. He would prefer not to get into other people's matters and would keep
away from such things. He said that he would prefer to listen to the opposite
person rather than reacting to what was said. He said that he was completely
satisfied with his life. He had faced lot of struggles in his life earlier and
had seen tough times. But now he was well settled in his career and had no
worries. He was fastidious and very particular about his things especially at
his work place; he was very particular about the way he wanted things to be done
there. He was a kind and sympathetic person by nature.
There was no history of any major illness in his past. On the family front too
there was no other significant medical history except that his mother had
asthma.
Based on this history he was prescribed Phosphorus 200 along with a dose of
Carcinosin. In the initial 3 months of treatment, his lesions increased and the
remained static for some time. After this period he noticed substantial
improvement in the lesions in a very short duration. He remarked at this stage
of treatment that his complaints had never been in such a remission ever since
he got this disease. His lesions on the elbows had almost disappeared and his
scalp lesions were better by more than 75%. There were few small, new lesions on
the back but they did not persist for very long. His complaints of joint pains
were much better than before at the end of about 8 months of treatment. He
continued the treatment for another few months for complete relief from the
psoriasis. His joint pains would relapse once in a while but it would be mild
and would be controlled with the medication. Thus overall he did very well with
the treatment; his psoriasis was cured and his joint pain was under good
control.
Remark: The remedy prescribed in these cases
is patient-specific i.e. it has been prescribed based on the symptoms specific
to the patient at that point of time. It is advisable that the patient does not
indulge in any self-medication.
