A Case of Multiple Molluscum Contagiosum
  

A 16 years old girl, Miss M. K. (Patient identification number: L7870) had reported to the clinic for complaints of multiple molluscum contagiosum on her face and neck since the past 1 year. She had got them surgically cauterized them but they had recurred after a couple of weeks.

She also had some hypopigmented spots on her face for which she used some local application with no improvement whatsoever. She also had a lot of dandruff and a very oily scalp.

He Personal details:

She craved a lot for spicy food and junk food stuff. She would have profuse perspiration all over her body which was offensive. Her menstrual cycles were regular.

Family set up:

She lived with her mother (who is a home maker), father (who was an iron and steel broker) and her elder sister (who was in the last year of her commerce graduation).

Her personality:

She was a thin girl with whitish complexion. She was very short tempered. Whenever she would get angry she used to either remain quiet or else expresses verbally. She could control her anger very well. She had a very cheerful personality.

Family history:

Her father as well as her mother were known hypertensive. Her paternal grandfather was a diabetic.

Follow up details:

24.09.05: She was prescribed Thuja in the 200th potency for 2 weeks.

10.10.05: The molluscum contagiosum had started healing. Also some new eruptions were continuing to erupt on her face.

25.10.05: This time there was no significant change in her eruptions. However, the appearances of new eruptions were halted. The dandruff which she used to complain of had reduced drastically.

14.11.05: The molluscum contagiosum continued to heal further.

25.11.05: There was further improvement in her skin complaints.

27.12.05: She reported an improvement of over 75 % in her skin.

23.01.06: She reported an improvement of over 85 % in her skin.

13.3.06: There was over 90% healing of the eruptions by this time.

27.0406: There was no molluscum currently on her face. She only had some acne on her right cheek, for which she was given Silica in the 200th potency.

Remark:
The remedy prescribed in these cases is patient-specific i.e. it has been prescribed based on the symptoms specific to the patient at that point of time. It is advisable that the patient does not indulge in any self-medication.
