This is the case of Mr. A.M (Patient Ref. No. 5933) a 29 years old male patient who reported to us with complaints of genital Herpes since 1 yr. 9 months. He had reddish pin-pointed eruptions on his private parts with itching that was aggravated in the evening and night. He felt better by hot water bathing. There was a history of exposure to X-rays before the onset of the chief complaint. He was on conventional medications for about 8 to 10 months with no relief. His HSV IgG and IgM levels were 4.38 and 0.27(disease specific titres) respectively- that were quite high.

Along with this he also complained of chronic lower backache and stiffness since the past 8 years that was aggravated by rest and in winter and ameliorated by movements or exercise.

His appetite was average and he was addicted to smoking 4-5 cigarettes a day with occasional alcohol. He was fond of spicy food and had an aversion to non-vegetarian food. He perspired profusely on his palms, face and chest. He very frequently had peculiar dreams of losing his teeth and sometimes of falling from bed.

He was a software programmer and was dissatisfied with his job that was quite stressful. He felt unappreciated at work. He was mild by nature but had great anxiety about his health. Also, he had a great fear of being married for which he was pressurized persistently by his parents due to which he often suffered from disturbed sleep.

There was a family history of Psoriasis and he had suffered from typhoid twice 4 years back.

Based on the entire history, a constitutional homoeopathic remedy was selected for him. He was prescribed Silicea 200 repeatedly along with a dose of Thuja 200. He was asked to stop all his previous traditional medications. He reported to us after a month and there was a mild improvement in his herpetic eruptions, the itching was much better than before. There was no relapse or aggravation in his condition inspite of stopping his previous conventional medicines. His backache was slightly better with stiffness persistent. In the second follow up, after another 1 month his herpetic eruptions were 40% better with no more itching. This time his backache and stiffness were about 50% better. His HSV titres came down to 3.45 and 0.81 this time. All his complaints were about 90% better in the third follow up. He also mentioned that along with this, mentally he felt much more relaxed and less stressed than ever before. He could cope up with the stress much more easily and even started thinking positively in terms of marriage which he could never think of before. Before the fourth follow up he was asked to verify his HSV IgG, IgM titres which reported to be 0.33 and 0.5 respectively which was something that could not be achieved even after a year of conventional treatment.
